Chapter 2 Connected Educator

 In Chapter 2 of Connected Educator, the author discuss the different types of learning communities available to educators. In a professional learning community, that is what we typically see in schools with a typical school division. Teachers are taught how to teach through practices such as relay, having the principle or their directors watch a class, receiving feedback on how students are doing etc. This has been the teaching model for years, but due to innovations in the latest years there has been other methods that educators can use to benefit their students as well as themselves. An example of this is the personal learning community which offers educators the opportunity to develop their communications in the learning environment. The personal learning community exists for teachers to learn  better teaching methods for themselves and to figure out what is not working in relation to their students. This is perfect as this generation of students have access to so much more than they did before to learn. Alternative methods become attractive to educators who really want to make a difference. The last learning community that is discussed is the connected learning community which is for educators to connected world wide through different platforms. This is for people who genuinely want to make a difference, not just for their students, but for all students. This plays heavily into having diversity in the learning environment that may people can connect to. This a great platform for educators aiming to use their teaching styles and offer advice and tactics for other teachers to utilize. In my future career path, a personal learning community would be beneficial as I play to work for a government agency which is all about networking and meeting different people and ideas to collaborate with. I would definitely utilize the people around me to hear their opinions on what they want as change. Also developing my own network is a guaranteed way to uplift yourself and reach a larger audience. The criminal justice is in dire need of more people having an informed opinion rather than just having an opinion.
