Smackdown Overview: One Note

One Note has been a very beneficial application that I have used since I started college. I used to handwrite my notes in my textbook, but after discovering One Note, I choose to save myself time by using the app. While One Note is a Microsoft application, it is also available on iPad and Mac products between desktop and mobile devices for free.

The digital textbook allows you to separate your notes into different tabs which is good if you like to keep all your information in one place. You get the opportunity to draw, insert outside images or videos or even make it look like an actual notebook. This app also is good for reminders or to act as a planner because it allows you to make lists and check off as you go.

I think this app is very beneficial for college students for the reasons mentioned above as well its free and if you can save money on notebooks and utilize the device that you have to use anyway for classes, save you dime. I highly recommend utilizing if you don't already have a consistent means of note taking or planning and also if you don't prefer handwriting notes, as I know some do.

  1. Hi Kimberley. I’ve never heard of One Note before. With that being said, it sounds very intriguing. This application sounds like a game changer for college students. I love that it has everything all in one place and offers just about everything a college student would ever need in order to do well in their classes. Being able to customize my notes with little drawings or images really helps me retain information better. I love that One Note has a planner feature as well that allows you to check off your to-do lists. I’m definitely going to give this application a try, especially since it’s free. Great job!

  2. Hi Kimberley,
Even though I've used the Microsoft Suite before, I've never used One Note. This seems like a very interesting tool for keeping organized. Nice presentation! Thank you for sharing!

  3. Hello, Kimberly!

I also have never heard of this app. Honestly, I am very unorganized so I feel as though this app would help me tremendously. I also have a very heavy bag, so would prefer to go digital. I would even rip out my notes over and over and rewrite them, so it would save me time. So cool you can take a snapshot and put it into the note.

  4. Hi Kimberly! I really liked your smackdown presentation on One Note! I’m really not sure how I’ve never heard of it before, but your presentation made it seem super easy to use and incredibly useful and I wish I would have found it sooner. Other than being used for students, where might you see this tool being used, and how could you use it in the career path you are following?
